Hi everybody,

Today I once again got one of these messages from a seller saying "I won't give you any feedback until I have received mine". I'm getting a bit fed up with this blackmailing, especially since I as a buyer always fulfilll my part of the deal (the payment) first, and in blind faith, while the sellers only fulfill theirs after getting the payment. I had one seller even giving me a 0% feedback until I had delivered mine!

Besides, many sellers apparently send these blackmail messages routinely without checking whether the buyer is likely to give feedback or not. If sellers really care, it is easy enough to check the number of feedbacks given versus received from their buyers before sending the blackmail messages.

To all you sellers, please get this: The number of positive feedbacks isn't very important. The only thing that matters is not to get negative feedback - because while a satisfied customer might not give feedback, a dissatisfied customer always will. If you don't get feedback from a percentage of your satisfied customers it's nothing to worry about. Beyond a certain level, which to me is less than a hundred, the number of positive feedbacks doesn't matter. For me as a buyer it doesn't matter whether you have 100 or 1000 or 10000 positive feedbacks. It's only the negative that count!

This feedback blackmailing seems to be a particular Delcampe bad attitude. I don't think I have ever seen it on "the other big auction site".

Sellers, please stop the blackmailing - nobody gets happier from it!

i agree. a seller should give a good feedback upon payment. that is my policy and i have always done this, unless i forgot, which ain't too hard at my age. also, i would like the some or equal feedback if the customer is satisfied with my goods for 2 good reasons. 1st, to show they have received the items, and 2nd, to show that i am an honest seller. of course, we can't be held responsible for damaged or lost items in the mail, even registered or insured items can get lost or stolen. i know as i am retired from the usps, and have seen this happen many times. but this feedback problem is not unique to delcampe, and i can also attest to that. it does happen on other sites as well. but perhaps sebastien can be the first to help create a better system.

I agree too,

I'm new to this site but both buy and sell on a regular basis on another site , I have to say I find feedback has a different meaning to me personally as a seller to a buyer.

As a buyer I leave feedback upon receipt of the item both as a means of acknowledging receipt of the item and then as a review of the entire transaction.

As a seller I leave feedback upon receipt of payment as a thankyou for custom and payment, and so far I've found that the vast majority of customers are prompt payers, of course negative feedback is always there for the one that doesn't pay without giving a reason or ignores your emails, but to be honest if a person isn't serious about buying an item they have bid on then they hardly likely to care about negative feedback.

Hello Br2un,

As a seller, who leave feedback as soon as I get a payment, I do understand others who don't as you do not always get one in return.

Lucky me, I just deal with honest & friendly people on this site. But I supposed the "blackmailing" possible in both direction.

On Delcampe you can change the feedback you left at anytime. So, there is no need to try blackmailing in anyway...

I did get a neutral once, because I sent out the wrong item (mistake happens) but the buyer change it in a 100% positive as soon as he got the right item. and as you can see, there is no trace of my mistake on my rating.

You should read the "feedback forum" on eBay, it's worse .... and there definitive.

I personally think the feedback rating so subjective that it doesn't really mean more than the level of activity you have on the site.

hi randy,
i have used the dispute system. most of the time, it doesn't work for me. the buyer was a deadbeat and that's was the end result. he should not have bidded to begin with or didn't read my description, terms of payment, and shipping. as for feedback, maybe you should just put in your description, you don't give or accept it. then there won't be any misgivings on your part. i, for one, don't mind the criticism if warranted. but give them hell if it isn't. :D
